WPPI 2017

Where to begin with this post?  WPPI was one of the most amazing experiences of our entire career.  We’ve had dreams of going for years since we first got into the photography business, and this year our dream came true.

We boarded our airplane filled with anxiety and excitement, wondering what the next couple days were going to be like for us.  We traveled with our fellow photographer friend, Liz.  We had so much fun together.  After 5 hours sitting on a plane we checked into the Hard Rock Hotel and went straight to bed anticipating what the next morning would have in store for us.  Although the Hard Rock Hotel had great accomodations,  it was a little far from the convention center but it wasn’t anything Uber couldn’t fix, lol.  Our next trip to WPPI we will try to stay at the Wynn which is conveniently located right down the street from the convention center.  If any of our readers are planning a trip to Las Vegas make sure to clickLas Vegas flights & hotelsfor package deals.
On our first day we took a class with the amazing Joel Grimes about mastering light.  It was so neat to get to learn from him.  Through out our entire trip we took many other classes, we got to see Jeff & Julia Woods, Andrew Funderburg, Mike Allebach, Melissa Jill, Me Ra Koh (from Disney Jr.) and the amazing Sue Bryce.

Our brains were on overload,  seemed like we were getting headaches everyday from so much information our brains were trying to retain.  Each class we took was filled with valuable tips and advice from fellow photographers who have been in our shoes at some point or another.  We were all excited about getting back home and making the changes we felt necessary for our businesses.
The expo, ohhhh my… the EXPO.  It was like a kid walking into a candy store.  We got to see Sue Bryce, Peter Hurley & Joe Buissink along with many others shooting live on stage at the Canon booth.  We played with a lot of new toys and explored lots of new equipment options.  We also purchased quite a few things that were excited about using.
We also got to meet the AMAZING Kelly Brown from Little Pieces Photography.  She was so sweet and kind to us, we have watched her mentoring videos and admired her for so long, it was so crazy to finally see her in person.

Of course, we couldn’t visit Vegas without exploring the wonderful city, in between classes we headed to the strip, explored the beautiful hotels and ate at some amazing restaurants.  We even got to see David Copperfield perform his amazing magic tricks right before our eyes.

WPPI is definitely an experience that any photographer with a serious outlook towards the business should attend.  There is so much learning and inspiration we have taken from this experience and we cannot wait to do it all over again.
